Favorite Music and Books
Hello Readers,
I know that I mentioned a bit about some of my favorite books in an earlier post, and how I identified with mostly the female centered characters, what I don't remember is talking about my favorite music. As a young child, I was introduced to a wild mix of music, and it has shaped me just as much as reading has. My biological father was a big Hank Sr. fan and my mom's favorite singer is Engelbert Humperdinck. That is some range there between music genres because Ol' Hank was big in the 40's and 50's with country music and Engelbert Humperdinck saw his rise to fame in the 70's when soulful love songs primed with the likes of Tom Jones. Honestly, I didn't start finding my own music to listen to until middle school and high school. High School Musical made me love musicals while the Phantom of the Opera gave me an appreciation for Opera. This spurred my love for Andrea Bocelli and also kind of made me find Celtic Woman. I also don't think that I would have loved pop music if it weren't for school and camp. Another genre of music I love is Latin Pop and would have never gotten that love if it were not for taking Spanish in high school.
So how does this tie in to my love of books? The thing is that I'm still expanding on my love of both. Every day, I'm finding new music and coming across new books. Sometimes music can help me tie myself to a character or book that I really like. To which I can say that I have two playlists on Spotify that I dedicated to ACOTAR and The Hunger Games. I also have a few songs that have inspired certain chapters in my book I'm writing. Music and reading are just amazing when I need to make mental pictures and get the extra emotions when I need it.
Well, I'm super exhausted right now, so I will sign off and try to do what I need to do book wise before I eventually fall asleep.
