My hopes for this year
Hello Readers!
In lieu of today being national sci-fi day, I would like to share some of my hopes for this year. As you all should know by now, I'm a writer and I've started this blog to help me get better with it. While blogging may not be my money maker right now, I do have a few projects in the works for me to turn into a couple of book series. One of which I'm hyper-fixated on, is a Young Adult sci-fi series focused on teenagers in the distant future similar to Star Trek but has themes of sex, death and LGBT+ characters. Age range for that would be 16-18+ given the sexual themes. Two other projects are fantasy oriented and won't contain sexual themes as of right now and will also be geared towards Young Adults. I'm really excited to get these books done and would love everyone's feedback on my writing in general.
Now let me tell you about my favorite sci-fi show, which is Star Trek. I'm not a really big fan of the Original Series, but I do have a few favorite episodes from that series. One of which being the episode where this blob like figure is being scrutinized because the men running the mining work on the planet is using the eggs of the blob as fuel. This one episode really shows the pain of the blob mother through the mind melding techniques Spock uses as a vulcan and my favorite line from the episode is McCoy's famous "I'm a doctor, not a brick layer". The Next Generation is one of the two Star Trek series that got me hooked on the show as I watched the movie First Contact on TV and random episodes of Voyager. TNG was great because it showed a more developed Federation and it gave a little bit more light to the inner workings of a space ship. Deep Space Nine was my all time favorite Star Trek show as it merged religion with space diplomacy in a more personable way than Star Wars ever could. DS9 commonly deals with war, grief and revolves around a single father who would rather be somewhere else than on a space station that was used by an enemy who shows themselves throughout the run of the show. Voyager is good, but I haven't finished watching it because we can't afford any streaming services at the moment. As for Star Trek: Enterprise and all of the following star trek shows that followed over the years, I can't wait to watch those when I get the chance.
Next post might be about some of my favorite books, so be on the look out for that. I would like for all of my followers to become active in responding to these posts so I can write better and know that my work isn't futile. As for now, I will sign off and I look forward to posting again . Love you all.
